FAISAL MAHMUD

Faisal Mahmud is an award-winning Dhaka-based journalist currently on sabbatical to perform the Press Minister's duty in New Delhi for Bangladesh's interim government.

 

Earlier he covered Bangladesh for several international news outlets including Al Jazeera, Nikkei Asia, TRT World Asia Times, Vice News, Voice of America and the Wire.

A trained engineer, he specialises in writing about technology, but his passion lies in covering social and political affairs as a newsman. Faisal has extensively covered the Rohingya crisis in Bangladesh's southeast and other major political events.

​

Faisal received several fellowships including Jefferson Fellowship, Adenauer Fellowship, and Thomson Reuters Foundation fellowship. He is also working in Fintech Magazine as its executive editor.

​

He won the U.S.-based SABEW award for his business report in Nikkei Asia.

 

Faisal is the founding member secretary of BJIM and the maiden editor of 'Third Eye', the BJIM publication majorly on press rights.
