SHAMIM ASHRAF

Shamim is an experienced editor with a demonstrated history of working in the newspaper industry in Bangladesh, Thailand, the United States and Hong Kong.

 

Skilled in reporting, writing, editing and online news operation, he began his career as a reporter with The Daily Star. He worked in various bits before taking up an editorial role at the newspaper. After a one-year stint in Bangkok as an assistant editor at the Asia News Network, a network of 22 leading newspapers published from 20 Asian countries), Shamim resumed his role as web editor at The Daily Star in 2013 before migrating to Hong Kong in August 2016.

 

An Alfred Friendly Press Fellow, Shamim is currently leading a department dedicated to the coverage of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area besides working as the Deputy Web Editor of China Daily Hong Kong. He also has his works published in Al-Jazeera, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (US), The Jakarta Post (Indonesia) and The Nation (Thailand).
